Seeking Knowledge

“The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out.”  Proverbs 18:15 (NIV)

We sign up for classes, we read books, we watch educational videos – for what purpose?  To gain knowledge.

And why do we seek to gain knowledge?  To apply that knowledge in our lives and make better informed choices.  Applying knowledge to our lives is called wisdom; the ability to choose wisely is discernment.

The world around us is often a cruel taskmaster, administering the test first, and giving the lesson after.  People who do not seek knowledge often refer to this learning style as the “school of hard knocks”.

But God is not like that.  He gently and tenderly offers the instruction first, in preparation of any test that may come our way.  The Bible is God’s instruction book for us – filled with His knowledge, wisdom, and love.

May you be blessed as you seek knowledge and truth today in God’s Word.
