Lent 2022 – Day 5

“Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”

(Psalm 46:10 – English Standard Version)

Up to this point in our walk through Psalm 46, the sons of Korah have been speaking. In verse 10, we have a change in speakers – God shows up, and speaks up!

God starts by offering a word of comfort and reassurance – even with all the upheaval and uncertainty in nature and among humans, God reminds us that He is in control. He is the God of the past, the God of the present, and the God of the Future – nothing surprises Him or catches Him off guard.

God then states that He alone will be exalted among people and in nature – even all the natural disasters and wars and unrest among the nations! He alone will redeem all these things for His glory. Only an all-powerful God can transform bad and evil events into something good.

And that, my friends, is the message of Easter – the reason we remind ourselves daily of the message of Jesus – His death, His burial, and ultimately, His resurrection. Only God can redeem the bad into redemption for His glory and our good.

Jesus lay His life down for us, His perfect, sinless life in exchange for our sins, so that we can have eternal life with Him. He offers this gift to us all – we cannot earn it, buy it, demand it, or barter for it.

May you find peace in Him today, and throughout this Lenten season.

Blessings,
~kevin

P.S. – We’ll circle back and take a deeper look into this verse after we finish up the rest of Psalm 46.
Thanks for being a part of this journey!
