Advent Week 4, Day 1 – Peace

We all desire it, don’t we?

Musicians write songs about it. Politicians make deals for it. Neighbors want it. Families want it. Cultures have made symbols to remind us that the world seeks it. We take trips to the beach, to the mountains, and other locations to find it.

We seek after these external manifestations of peace, and they help for a while, but then we revert back to our reality, our every-day lives where there seems such a lack of it.

What if the real peace we seek is much deeper, something inside us, not external?
What if that peace we seek is so much bigger than us, and seemingly unattainable, even God-sized?

Is that peace even possible?

Let’s see what the Apostle Paul had to say:

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

(Romans 5:1, English Standard Version)

Imagine for just a moment – peace with God is possible!
And not only is it possible, it is offered to us as a gift from God Himself!

This is the good news of the Advent – having peace with God through Jesus.

This peace is nothing we can buy or earn, or merit in any way. This peace is obtained only by faith, and through Jesus’ payment for our sins, once for all, on the cross.

He died and rose again so that we might live in peace with God.

May you set aside time today to enjoy His peace, and His love for you.

And if you don’t have this peace from God, ask God for it – He is ready and willing to give it to you if you ask Him. You don’t have to clean up your life, or make promises to God – just come as you are to Him.

Seeking and have questions? I’m glad to listen. Let me know in the comments.

Resting in His peace,
